About & Methodology

We spell out the basis of every conclusion, so you know where it comes from and how far to trust it.

What is this site?

LookYourDestiny brings three long-standing traditions together in one place, each working on its own and also combining into one view:

Each lens gives its own score and light (green = good, yellow = fair, red = avoid). We never add the three scores into one total, because they come from entirely different traditions and adding them is meaningless. Instead we show “agreement”: when the three lights point the same way the signal is stronger; when they differ, treat it as a nudge to think one step further.

ModuleVersionNotes
AlmanacAL-LITE-1.0The month changes on the solar-term day (Taiwan time); the year pillar changes at Start of Spring; the day pillar comes from the Julian day number; twelve day officers, Yellow/Black Path, clashes and Sha direction; auspicious factors such as Moon Virtue, Heaven Virtue, Heaven's Pardon, Triple Harmony, Six Harmony and Mother Granary; unfavorable days such as Month Breaker, Year Breaker, Four Departures, Four Extinctions, Yang Gong taboo days, Monthly Taboo, Three Maidens Sha and Departing-to-Death; Pengzu's taboos.
Date pickingEV-1.0Each occasion has its own day-officer preferences and cautions. Scoring: day-officer weight + Yellow Path (plus) / Black Path (minus, reduced when a virtue star is present) + auspicious-factor bonus (capped) − minor unfavorable-day penalties. Month Breaker, Year Breaker, Four Departures, Four Extinctions, Yang Gong taboo days and a clash with the person's zodiac animal are red lights outright. Conversion: green 72+, yellow 48+, otherwise red.
Zi Wei chartZW-BASIC-1.0Births after 23:00 (late Zi hour) are charted as the next day's Zi hour; for leap months, day 15 and earlier follow the same month and day 16 onward the next; the common stem-based transformation table; decades run forward for Yang males and Yin females, backward otherwise.
Zi Wei timingZW-FLOW-1.0Years follow the lunar year; the Dou Jun is derived from birth month and hour; the monthly focus palace advances from the Dou Jun by month and the daily one by day; the yearly, monthly (Five Tigers rule) and daily stems each give four transformations, and we check whether they land in the supporting palaces of the topic's palace, add the natal foundation, then calibrate the spread so scores are distinguishable.
Western zodiacZODIAC-1.0Tropical zodiac (the mainstream of Western astrology); from the birth date we compute the signs of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn and whether they are retrograde; whole-sign houses counted from your Sun sign; the Moon's aspect to your Sun sign, Mercury/Venus/Mars retrogrades, and new and full Moons adjust the score by occasion.
IntegrationFUSION-1.0Each lens's light, plus agreement (strong / broad / mixed). Ranking uses the average of the three scores with a bonus for “strong agreement and all green” and a penalty for “mixed views”; no combined score is shown on screen.
AstronomyASTRO-1.0Solar longitude uses Meeus's algorithm; the Moon and planets use simplified orbital elements. Compared with a published ephemeris: sign-ingress times for the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars within 16 minutes, Jupiter and Saturn within 40 minutes; retrograde station positions within 0.03° and times within 2 hours; new/full Moon elongation within 0.02°; solar terms within about 10 minutes.
Share & exportSHARE-1.0Draws your chart and star profile as an A4 card you can save as an image, save as a PDF or print; the card carries the site link and a QR code. All of it happens in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
Site1.1.0Code and content version (added English edition, export and sharing).

Mini encyclopedia

What are the “twelve day officers”?

Each day is assigned in turn one of twelve names — Establish, Remove, Full, Balance, Stable, Initiate, Destroy, Danger, Success, Receive, Open, Close — and each has things it traditionally suits and doesn't. For example, an “Open” day suits opening a business, while a “Destroy” day isn't for celebrations.

What are Yellow Path and Black Path days?

Tradition divides a day among twelve “duty spirits”. Azure Dragon, Bright Hall, Golden Coffer, Heavenly Virtue, Jade Hall and Life Controller are auspicious (Yellow Path); Heavenly Punishment, Vermilion Bird, White Tiger, Heavenly Prison, Black Tortoise and Hook Array are inauspicious (Black Path). Yellow Path days suit big matters better, though virtue stars like Moon Virtue or Heaven Virtue on the same day soften a Black Path.

What does “clash” mean?

The earthly branches form six opposing pairs (Zi–Wu, Chou–Wei, Yin–Shen, Mao–You, Chen–Xu, Si–Hai). The zodiac animal that a day's branch clashes with is traditionally advised against major matters and long trips that day.

What are the four transformations (Prosperity, Authority, Recognition, Obstacle)?

In Zi Wei Dou Shu, each heavenly stem makes particular stars “transform”: Prosperity brings opportunity, Authority means leadership, Recognition means reputation and helpers, Obstacle means fixation and getting stuck. Each year, month and day has its own set; we look at which palace they land in.

How do the Sun, Moon and Rising signs differ?

The Sun sign is your outer personality and life direction, the Moon sign your inner emotions and sense of security, the Rising sign the first impression you give. This site currently offers the Sun and Moon (the Moon needs a birth time); the Rising sign needs a birth place and may come later.

What is Mercury retrograde?

From Earth, Mercury sometimes appears to move backward — about three to four times a year, for about three weeks each. Astrologically that's a time of communication slips and paperwork loops, so double-check contracts and deals. That's astrology's reading, not a physical effect on real-world operations.
